It has begun! Aside from thinking about a plan, you have to implement, and test yourself by setting markers and way-points. We have some other personal markers for things like: get rid of our stuff, buy certain equipment, and finish reading certain books prior to leaving, but the big date has been discussed and prayed over at length and we are on a war path...
We have now chosen a date when our "normal" life ends and our extra-ordinary life starts: September the 2nd, 2014. Why Sept 2nd you ask?

Downsizing
So as we continue on our quest, our dream, our goal, we are downsizing – and it’s an absolute need!… I think there may be many-a-post about this! So the basic question is: “How do you downsize a 3 bedroom house with 3 kids?” and downsize to what? Do you just pick it all up and lob it out the window? Sell it on Ebay? Set the house on fire? Give to charity? What? So for our first official blog post, I figure I should set the scene for how things will go. We are nervous and excited to share with you…
We are both Portuguese, homeschooling our 3 children, we are Preppers (not the doomsday variety, but more on that later), we are vegan (as my wife and daughter have intolerances), and we want to have our own homestead one day… I have never written a blog before. Just like I have never really kept a diary – but don’t worry, this will be the best you will ever read… I hope… See, we have a dream… But for our dream to happen I knew I MUST keep some record, to keep myself accountable and to make sure that we could look at it and say: we did it! After much deliberation and discussion, panic and hard work...
