A great little place. So this week we - on the spur of the moment - visited the Butterfly house. We wanted a day out, and it was not too far, and there were not large animals, but it was more of a sanctuary. We got there a tad late, but still had a really great time and saw so much. The boys learned about the birds and butterflies and I poked a King Julian (Madagascar joke) Lemur in his soft belly. Then in the butterfly house we saw MASSIVE butterflies. So large, we witnessed a Butterfly vs Parrot fight over banana and the butterfly won.... Shocking... Our photos and Videos below: We took many snaps, but here are some snippets! The videos are for fun... I was loving this as much or more than the kids! Excuse my narrations...
Overall we had a full day and the kids enjoyed.
I have to say I am not "pro" Zoos that treat the animals like property like the case of the Giraffe in Copenhagen recently, however all the animals here were small, and had large enclosures. We spoke to their keepers, and they were people that actually enjoyed their jobs, were qualified in them and genuinely wanted us to learn about the animals and their protection. Worth a visit if you get a chance! :) We will be going again as we didn't get to see it all... Have you been? what did you think of it?
